Make it a Sparkly Halloween With This DIY Moroccan Style Sequin Pumpkin | Fish & Bull

This Halloween, I’m going with Team Cute not Creepy. It’s not that I don’t love a good scare or fake blood but this year I wanted to create a pumpkin that was artistic and a little bit unique. The result? This dazzling DIY Moroccan style sequin pumpkin inspired by ancient Moroccan textiles.

In pumpkin form, it’s a little bit silly yet fun! Moroccan style poufs and handwoven Moroccan wedding blankets have been all over Pinterest (and on my wish list) for awhile now. You’ve probably seen these ivory textiles, covered in fabric ribbons, pom pom trim and all the sequins. I mean, what’s not to love right!? It’s elegant, sparkly and got a boho, textured vibe. To recreate this look, all you need is an ivory pumpkin and LOTS of soft fabric trims — so go raid your fabric scraps or a fabric store!

The secret is to stick to a muted, monochrome colour like white, ivory or grey for something more elegant. For even more no-carve DIY pumpkin ideas, a floral monogram or a galaxy inspired look is always a good idea.

Materials

— Pumpkin
— Fabric trim, ribbon, tassels
— Sequins
— Tweezers
— White glue
— Glue gun
— Scissors
— Pencil

Directions

  1. If you want to create a complicated pattern with fabric trim and sequins, use a pencil to outline a pattern on the pumpkin first. You can add sequins in straight rows, criss cross lines or any pattern you like.
  2. Add white glue to the pumpkin and apply sequins with a tweezer in a straight line. Alternatively you can buy sequin ribbons so that it’s faster to glue down.Make it a Sparkly Halloween With This DIY Moroccan Style Sequin Pumpkin | Fish & Bull
  3. To attach fabric trim and ribbons to the pumpkin, use a glue gun so that the glue dries quickly and holds it in place. I layered tassels and pom pom trim together to get a full and textured look.
  4. Set the pumpkin aside to dry before you handle it heavily.
