How did you and Chris meet?
We met through a mutual friend who set us up on a blind date. Chris and I had lunch at The Grove in San Francisco and then wound up going for a long walk in the neighborhood. It was a date that lasted well beyond lunch.
Tell us about the proposal!
My parents came to visit for Labor Day weekend last year; Chris got to my apartment ahead of me and the plan was for all of us to have dinner together at my place. When I got home, all of us went up to the roof to watch the sun set behind the Golden Gate Bridge, and as we were admiring the beautiful sunset, Chris got down on one knee. It was actually the same place where we had our first kiss!

How did you find your wedding venue?
I asked some friends to share some favorite wedding venues they’d been to and a good friend recommended Barndiva. It was perfect!
How did you choose your wedding invitation?
I knew the wedding would be in a garden-like setting, so I wanted a floral invitation that would be inviting and nod to an evening ceremony. I loved that the suite was cohesive, but the designs for each piece were unique (“
Did you add any special touches to your invitations to make them your own?
I customized the invitation suite by creating all my own typography and repurposing some of the pieces as day-of decor.
What were some of your fondest memories from the day?
Every moment was so wonderful, but the ceremony itself was very special because Chris and I wrote the script together, and our friend was our officiant. It was very intimate and personal, and was a true reflection of who we are—when I look back at the photographs and see the expressions on our faces, it was just this unforgettable moment in time.
What were some of your favorite wedding-day details?
I was super excited about our massive farm-to-table feast in the middle of a beautiful garden, and loved how the tablescape came together and was a visual experience for our guests. I wanted the reception to have a very romantic, Secret Garden-feel and I think we accomplished that.
As wedding favors, we gave guests chocolate bars from Mast in Brooklyn; we wrote each guest’s name on foil-pressed tags from Minted and tied them to each chocolate bar. We also included a foil-pressed card that said: “Live in the sunshine, swim the sea, drink the wild air. (But always leave room for chocolate.)” It’s a quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson and we included it in our ceremony script (with chocolate quote added by me!).
I was also very excited about the string trio that played during the ceremony and cocktail reception—it’s always been a dream of mine to have a string trio perform at my wedding, so it was amazing to witness it come true!
How did it feel to see your wedding vision come to life?
Watching the day come to life with Chris by my side, surrounded by the love of our family and friends, was truly unforgettable—the perfect day.
