Have some fun this Halloween and create a spooky card to send to someone who enjoys the day with you or may even have a special occasion going on that day.  These would make great invitations to your Halloween party, too!  The inked background and cut outs help to give this card a 3-d effect that will make anyone jump or even shudder.

The first step is to paint a piece of cardstock using the glow in the dark paint and lay it aside to dry while you are working on the rest of the project.

Next, die cut from cardstock the house, bats and tombstones using your die cut machine and the Haunted House die by Sizzix and the Graveyard set by Sizzix .  Lay the pieces aside.

Lay the spider web template by Hero Arts onto a sheet of cardstock.

Add some ink (Neon Chartreuse Ombre Ink Pad by Hero Arts shown and here are more Ombre choices: Ombre Ink Pads) onto your mat and using your ink blending tool add ink to the center working out into a few of the other areas of the web.

Continue to add darker ink colors as you work to the outer edge of the stencil finishing off the outer edge in black to complete the look.  I used purple and dark blue inks before adding the black ink.

Create the card base now by cutting a piece of cardstock that measures 12”x 7” and fold it in half to create a 6” x 7” card base.  Also, cut the glow in the dark paper to be 5 ¾” x 6 ¾”.  Add a third layer that measures 5 ½” x 6 ½”.  These sizes are based upon the size of the stencil to accommodate it as the top layer that measures 5 ¼” x 6 ½” when trimmed leaving a white edge around the outside of the stenciled frame.

Attach all of the layers to the card base using a tape runner.

Use a 3-d adhesive for the house to make it stand out.

Glue the tombstones and bats onto the card using a glue pen.

Finish off the inside of the card with your own stamped sentiment for the season or add the, “You’re Invited” stamp for a party invitation.

Have some fun creating this Halloween scene for your cards this year.  It has just the right touch of spooky and glow with the blended ink technique to make this card pop.  Whether you use it as an invitation to a party or a card to say hello to a friend, it will add to the night of fun.
